"They evaluate the notes as if they were precious objects, the result being eloquence of the highest degree.
This continues in such a way that one hopes it will never end...", a description of Marais Consort in the Südwest-Presse.

One feature of the ensemble is to combine the pleasure it derives from the cultural legacy of the renaissance and baroque eras with the intention to bring it to life in all its variety. Whether it is because of reverting to various sources as a foundation for experiments and new insights or because of the choice of instruments, it is not without reason that the press testifies time after time to the "incomparable sound of Marais Consort, finely differentiated and iridescent in delicate, warm colours while remaining clearly contoured and transparent" (Süddeutsche Zeitung).

The group plays on copies of late renaissance Italian instruments developed in close co-operation with the viol maker Christian Brosse.

"Aesthically new dimensions of sound presented themselves in the playing of the musicians of Marais Consort, from a cryptic flaring up to a thrilling sense of making the most of the dissonances". That says a lot about the ensemble.
The harmonious ensemble playing and its unique delicacy and subtlety are often emphasized; their playing is described as being energetic, colourful, masterly and beguilingjy beautiful.

A matter of utmost importance for the group is the constant search for ever new and interesting ideas for programms.
